Our Story

Solar Coaches™ was founded in 2025 by battery developer Kate McInnes, after years studying and developing commercial and industrial solar and battery projects. Seeing firsthand how many customers struggled to find transparent pricing and independent advice, she set out to build a platform that makes clean energy simpler, fairer, and more affordable.

Joined by Shaiv Kamat, a UBC Millennium Fellow and full stack engineer passionate about climate technology and cryptographic verification, the pair began early development of Solar Coaches' verification-driven marketplace. Their goal: to accelerate renewable-energy adoption by empowering consumers with fee-only expert guidance and direct access to trusted manufacturers.
